SUMMER EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS FOR 2021
The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority is currently seeking university/college students for the following seasonal positions at Durham, Saugeen Bluffs, and Sulphur Spring Conservation Areas:

DURHAM and SAUGEEN BLUFFS CONSERVATION AREAS
Gate Attendant and Park Maintenance Worker (nine positions)
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week (and requires weekend work)
Wage: $14.25/hour
Start Date: Approximately May 3, 2020
Job Responsibilities:
- Working often in an outdoor environment
- Working in the gatehouse receiving visitors and processing camping transactions
- Abide by Health and Safety policies and practices
- Assist visitors with campground site bookings, questions and requests
- Answer inquiries via telephone and computer
- Operate the CAMIS campground reservation system (training provided)
- Maintaining park grounds and facilities, including grass cutting and cleaning wahsrooms and other facilities
- Keeping the Park Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent updated on campsite bookings and other issues
- Maintaining relations with the head office in terms of necessary documentation, brochure requests and other Authority functions as they relate to park operations
- Assisting with park activities/events when required
- Must be able to work weekends
- Duties are to be performed in a professional, friendly and courteous manner
- Be responsible for handling cash and financial transactions
- Operate weed eater, riding lawnmower, gator, etc. (training provided)
- Report to and assist Park Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent with other duties as required
- Some heavy lifting may be required
Qualifications
- Must be knowledgeable about computer programs in general (on the job training provided)
- Able to perform manual labour
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver's Licence (minimum G2)
- Should be comfortable working with cash and calculating change in a retail setting
- Must be professional, friendly and courteous

SULPHUR SPRING CONSERVATION AREA
Park Maintenance Assistant (two positions)
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday
Wage: $14.25/hour
Start Date: Approximately May 3, 2021
Job Responsibilities:
- Working in an outdoor environment
- Abide by Health and Safety policies and practices
- Maintain grounds and facilities at Sulphur Spring Conservation Area
- Clean washrooms
- Empty garbage receptacles on an ongoing basis
- Conduct repairs on the boardwalk system and maintain trails
- Feed park fish and captive wildlife as required
- Report any vandalism or public safety issues to the Coordinator
- Inspect playground equipment and other structures as assigned
- Greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Maintain other day-use Conservation Areas as required
- Report to and assist the Field Services Coordinator with other duties as required
- Some heavy lifing may be required
Qualifications:
- Able to perform manual labour
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver's Licence (minimum G2)
- Some experience with grounds maintenance and the operation of power equipment such as lawn mower, weed eater, etc. is beneficial

SULPHUR SPRING CONSERVATION AREA
Grounds Maintenance Worker (one position)
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday
Wage: $14.25/hour
Start Date: Approximately May 3, 2021
Job Responsibilities:
- Working in an outdoor environment
- Abide by Health and Safety policies and practices
- Cut grass using a riding lawnmower and do grass trimming at various SVCA properties throughout the Watershed
- Assist with grounds maintenance at Sulphur Spring Conservation Area
- Empty garbage receptacles when required
- Report any vandalism or public safety issues to the Coordinator
- Greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Maintain other day-use Conservation Areas as required
- Some heavy lifting may be required
- Report to and assist the Field Services Coordinator with other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Able to perform manual labour
- Able to work independently
- Able to drive pick-up truck with trailer
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence (minimum G2)
- Some expeerience with grounds maintenance and the operation of power equipment would such as lawn mower, weed eater, etc. is beneficial
The SVCA will provide the following:
- On the job training for the operation of grounds maintenance equipment
- First aid training
- WHMIS training
- Health and Safety training
- Uniforms
